Since Becoming fascinated with traditional needlepoint church kneelers and cushions in England in the early 1970's, Barbara has been creating unique tapestries in needlepoint and crochet.
Melding traditional techniques with contemporary concepts, her works include and eclectic mix of colour,minimalism, uplift, flow, Op Art, verbal, with a dash of whimsy, always growing.
Her work has been purchased for the permanent collections of the Cambridge Galleries, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as Canadian artist, Mary Pratt. In 2007 Barbara received the First Juror's Award at the Cambridge Centre for the Arts annual juried exhibition.
Barbara holds a BA Fine Art from the State University of New York, and an Art Specialist Certificate. She has taught at both Elementary and Secondary education levels, and teacher for the Ontario Ministry of Education.
Born in Galt, Ontario in 1937, Barbara lived away for many years and returned to Cambridge in 2003. Since then she continues to be very active in both the Cambridge Arts scene and with the Mill Race Folk Society.
